HW8: Pinoy OTAKU for Dummies

Ever heard of a craving rock music?
That you'll never even get enough of until you have met the band. With their epic songs going on your mind that you never seem to forget the lyrics. Then there will be a time when you heard that they're going to your country, of course this is a mostly what they call a "once-in-a-lifetime chance".

So what will you do in order to go to an awesome band that you fave for so long although money is something of value here:
a.) Ask your parents politely to give you money in order to go to a concert. (which they won't)
b.) Ask your friends to help you out in borrowing money to go to a concert. (which can be a problem)
c.) Bully on someone weak and take their money. (like that will help)
d.) STEAL!! (OH YEAH!!...now I'm caught as a bad guy)

OK....But don't you dare overdo yourself in being an obsessive fan. Though it simply means that you really show what it takes to be a TRUE FAN of the band you're supporting. While being a Fan of a Favorite Band you'd probably learn about them. For instance you learned that the lead vocalist was German you'll go researching this and that the terms they use. Also, as fans to support you'd probably be buying out their CD Albums, the T-Shirts with the print of the Band's name and Wallpapers to post them on your walls to display your love for them. Then your parents will scold you for being too supportive and they'll tell you its nonsense, meaningless and what does it even benefit.

Yeah...and I get that a lot from my parents since I've had this addiction...anyway I can't control it. It's been a habit of mine to watch more anime as I like. Anyways I like anime that's something I'm proud and passionate in carrying out and supporting those who make Anime to make me watch more Anime.

\(^u^)/ <3ANIME

My family wouldn't understand it but you see it's different here in Philippines they like anime because of the entertainment. So I've done a research an article entitled The Otaku and other 'alternatives' by  mikkieugenio

Based on my opinion:

In Philippines, are just doing things as a habit. Like people indoors, as Anime watchers, and Anime enthusiasts in blogging. Meanwhile for outdoors, these are people who are really dedicated in Anime, being in a Cosplay event, Anime Figure Collectors, and Enjoying Conventions. Which has been their part of their lives being a fan of Anime.

As you can observe Otaku pinoys are still living in their normal lives. Like studying in school, and going for work and other-related activities. It's still a problem that they put so much effort and money on Cosplaying and Collecting Figurines. Just like I just said they're doing these on behalf of their HABIT.

Is it because of Anime that Pinoy's have become like these? Of course, it's mostly the fault of epic storytelling of real life, love life, stories of a characters development, and uncontrollable visual adventures. Which had conquered the minds of many Filipino's. Yeah...late President Marcos might have banned the Voltes V but it didn't stop the Pinoys on erasing it.

The Impact on what the Anime brought to the culture of Pinoys is still here whether the local channels decides to TAGALOG subbed the anime shows, affordable local anime magazines, Anime Figurines and the like in which  can be cheaper. That made much impact among Filipinos in fighting and loving for it. Being fans of Anime had shown socializing benefits and experiencing the emotional attachment to Anime.

Which states by the one who wrote the article...
You’re asking me? To be honest, I never cared being an otaku before. But now, I guess I’m being more and more attracted to become a part of the alternative. I never yearned so much for something before.

So Pinoy's have ways in contacting with anime whether we are rich or poor. Even though we do our daily activities in life we still find time for Anime being a habit of many Filipinos out there. That never really had stop us in encountering a new kind of culture and entertainment. So to simply put it this way we enjoy theses kind of Otaku culture whether you like it or not. It's just something to live up to the Filipino's hobbies rather than die from boredom.

HW7: Philippine channel for Anime

Seriously how many hours does it have to take when watching TV? 2 hours or more longer than that. Knowing it really damages the eyes and makes you lazy. Although you learn new things such as current news, latest gossips, latest trends, documentaries of history and discovery channels. Furthermore, it has better entertainment too from Cartoons to Reality shows which is more trending these days.

But my favorite is Anime that has been really my cherished entertainment of all time. If Anime wasn't born I don't know where would I be anymore. I mean it has existed for decades and still has been a mainstream for the whole world. It's ongoing entertainment has experience the viewers of fantasy and science fiction.

In the Philippines, the Filipino viewers are more fond of more on dramas. Which can make them cry, laugh, and fall in love with the fave celebs playing the main roles. Is it because of the touching stories we Filipinos that can be found in our daily lives? wherein whenever we watch this kind of shows we can relate to it such as love problems, tragedies, values learned, and pains we Filipinos have. Similar to Anime since the start of Anime in the Philippines was with the great plot and character development wherein in every episode we watch our favorite protagonists as they go on with their lives the reasons why we Filipinos crave for Anime is that we also can relate with it.

While watching TV I recently saw a channel which compose of showing Tagalog-dubbed Animes. I'm guessing with the grew of Anime in the Philippines, Filipinos made a local channel just to watch our favorite Animes in our language. So I've researched it and found an article from its blog spot entitled Catch it on Cable ! starting 6am of August.

In brief information:

YES!! HERO TV is going to bring it all back to the beginning of Anime. They broadcast the first and ONLY channel of  tagalog-dubbed animes.

"Reminisce and relive the magic of your childhood with classics such as Voltes V, Combattler V, and even Shaider. Sink your teeth into the most popular titles to-date - Naruto, Beyblade, Gate Keepers, and Tokyo Underground. Then, marvel at up and coming programs that will be sure to blow your mind : Crush Gear Nitro, Beyblade V-Force, Captain Kuppa, Gransazers, Rocket Kidz, and D.I.C.E., to mention a few."

HERO TV has brought ANIME back with more new ANIME shows for Filipino viewers that are tagalog-dubbed. Which can let Filipino viewers understand better and learn even though its tagalog-dubbed but it was cooler back then. It's why in the first place we Filipinos have come to understand Anime and its difference to Cartoons.

Back then local channels was famous for Anime shows that shows drama, horror, mystery, and epic fiction that still been a great entertainment from the first showing of MECHA in the Philippines. Currently, Hero TV had been a helpful entertainment for viewers since its only about Anime.

So with Filipinos concerned with the TV scheduling today its all thanks to HERO TV that is still showing ANIME from the beginning until the latest anime.  Giving Filipinos time with their family again to watch it like back in the days wherein Anime was much cooler.

HW4: Survey Report

HOW?
The researcher conducted the Surveys through the use of Online Surveying. Wherein it's easier for the researcher to find the specific people she knows who best fits in who to undertake the Surveys. Since the researcher wants to know the effects of Anime Cartoons popularity in the Philippines the researcher was looking for Anime Lovers it got easier thanks to Online Surveying.
From the Survey: 28 responded to the researcher's question.

Analyzing Results:

According to the data collected the answers of the respondents 23 out of 28 NO which states that we Filipinos are not those who are too addicted in Anime that much. Meaning not those Otaku who'd date a virtual character or any object that's Anime. Although, 5 out of the 28 choose Yes which means little percent of Filipino youths are struggling from their addiction. Another question came up "if YES state your reason..." I learned here the different reasons such as, less time management for Anime, unsociable, cannot escape from reality anymore, and uncontrollable for watching anime. Therefore this answers my question "Does Negativity of Anime Effects us Filipinos?" with 82.1% percent on NOs and 17.9% percent of YESs I would conclude that were not that too obsessive in our culture nor date virtually but few Filipinos has troubles on how they'd handle the Time, Socializing, Escapism and uncontrollable issues.

Verifying on what I said on the PREDICTIONS:

"the negative effects for Anime brings with those exaggerated rumors behind being an Otaku doesn't actually troubles us nor we Filipinos are that obsessed."- me

I was wrong about this statement though there were few who had said YES on the surveys I would still count this a negative effect since this will benefit to those youths who are also affected. Which concludes that the negativity of Anime does affect the lives of Filipinos.
Second Question:

Analyzing Results:

The respondents  16 of 28 choose Yes so it means that we Filipinos's culture are similar to the the World of Anime. Since we Filipinos are known being fond of ART such as creative in designers dresses which mostly celebrities bought from our skills which relates to Cosplaying since were famous in creativity of costumes that most foreign people buy from. Watching Dramas which Filipinos specifically relates to has the same image to  Anime even if its Cartoons. Though some surveyors contradicts to it since Anime origins in Japan as if we Filipinos would just imitate the Japanese Culture since its influence in Anime. Meaning there was no similarities since we tend to Love Anime that Filipinos thought likeness of our Cultures. In conclusion, based on the data, Philippine Culture does relate to Anime Culture since many youths are exposed in Anime Culture as their hobbies which Philippine Culture can be present.
